The Saint Bridal Community Improvement Corporation on March 26 approved a staggered election schedule intended to prevent the entire board from changing at once.
Meredith, the board secretary, presented the election committee's proposal to cycle trustees over three years so that only a portion of the board would be up for reelection in any single year. Under the plan, the trustees slated for reelection in April 2024 are Amy, Ray, Bob and an open resident seat; April 2025 would feature Jonathan, Tom and Joe; April 2026 would include Chris Sauer, Chris Schildmayer and Ali Palmer.
The proposal was moved and seconded, and the board approved it by roll-call vote; each member present voted "Yes." The secretary explained the plan gives a 30-day window for candidates to file challenges and that the elections will be held at the regularly scheduled April meeting.
Board members also discussed the handling of a current vacancy in the resident seat and the option to retain outgoing trustees as advisers under the corporation's regulations. The chair noted prior practice of appointing advisers and said the approach could preserve institutional knowledge while allowing new members to join.
Next steps include advertising the open positions in the village newsletter and at council meetings ahead of the April election. The board will reconvene on its next regular meeting date to carry out the scheduled elections.
