Resident suggests 'Natural Family' month; commissioners say they'll 'look at it'

A resident proposed that Morrow County consider designating a month between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to recognize what the speaker called 'natural family.' The suggestion was made during the April 29 session as an idea for a proclamation or local observance.

The resident framed the proposal as a celebration of biological parents and adopted children and said other localities have pursued similar acknowledgements. Commissioners thanked the participant for the idea and for their community work but cautioned that issuing a proclamation for one cause could prompt many groups to request proclamations in turn. The board said it would research and consider the idea rather than issue a proclamation immediately.

No motion or formal resolution was made on the suggestion during the meeting; the item was discussed informally and will be subject to further consideration if the board elects to place it on a future agenda.
