The Little Falls school board took a series of routine and consequential votes during its regular business meeting.
Accepted gifts: Member Kelsey Herzog read a long list of donations to district programs, scholarship funds and extracurricular activities (donors included Crow Wing Power, Initiative Foundation, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and many individual donors). The board approved the acceptance of gifts by roll call (all trustees recorded "Yes").
Benefits vendor (MedSurety/West Bank): The board approved a motion to move district FSA and HSA administration from a self-administered model to MedSurety (with West Bank administering cards and claims). Trustees asked about employee notification and the administration confirmed employees will be enrolled through open enrollment and can opt to use local banks instead.
E‑learning plan: Trustees approved changes to the district's e-learning plan for 2024–25 that remove language preventing a shift to e-learning after a pre-announced two-hour late start; the change was negotiated with the union and is intended to preserve the ability to use e-learning in certain weather scenarios.
First day of school (elementary): The board approved a calendar change for elementary students to create a staggered, family-focused first day of school with time slots (recommended 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for families to meet teachers and tour buildings; the first official academic day will be the subsequent Wednesday.
Auditing firm and policies: Trustees approved changing auditing firms to Schwerner, Wenner & Company, and approved a package of policies and forms (library materials, employment background checks, license status, drug-and-alcohol testing and drug-free workplace policies) by voice votes.
Procedural notes: Several motions were approved by voice vote; personnel nonrenewal resolutions were approved by roll-call votes (recorded separately). Board members scheduled a June 10 summer work session and adjourned at the end of the meeting.
What this means: Most administrative and procedural items were approved without substantive debate; personnel nonrenewals were the most consequential votes and were handled separately by roll call to create a formal record.
