The administrator reported that the city’s five-year recreation plan was officially approved by the Department of Natural Resources and that the city intends to submit grant applications in April to support a Rotary Park expansion project.
The administrator said the special-use permit application for storage units at 695 West Chicago will be withdrawn because the city is looking to purchase that property for Rotary Park expansion. Staff also reported receipt of a rezoning application for 200 South Clay Street to change the zoning from D2 Heavy Industrial to C3 Highway Commercial; the administrator said staff has not yet prepared a full report but will provide one shortly.
Other updates included no new application yet received for 5759 South Monroe and no updates on the battery storage facility. The administrator said staff expects two requests for setback variances to come before the Zoning Board of Appeals, likely in April given publication and notice requirements.
The administrator shared links to planning trainings and regional workshops and provided neighborhood services statistics. No vote or formal action on these agenda items was recorded; these were informational updates to the commission.
