A presenter at a United Nations meeting accused the United States, in coordination with Israel, of launching a second deliberate and unprovoked military attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran and called the strikes a “calculated act of aggression.” The presenter said the attacks hit densely populated areas, schools and hospitals and alleged “hundreds of innocent civilians lost their lives” and “many more were wounded.”
The speaker said the strikes violated the UN Charter and cited Article 2, paragraph 4, saying the use of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a state is prohibited. “The aggression was clear,” the presenter said, and added that targeting a sovereign state’s highest officials would be an “egregious breach of international law.”
The presenter alleged that a girls’ school in “Minap” (as stated in the transcript) in “Holm Islam province” was destroyed and repeated the claim that “165 school girls were martyred.” The speaker also said hospitals and emergency checkpoints in several cities had been struck, and that the full number of casualties was still being verified. The presenter described the strikes as “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity.”
Addressing the Security Council, the presenter said the United Nations and its members “cannot remain silent” and urged the council to act “firmly, clearly, and without ambiguity.” The presenter criticized what they described as double standards, saying it was “deeply shameful” for a country to call for children’s protection while allegedly launching strikes that killed children.
On legal justification, the speaker said Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and that Iran was not seeking war or escalation. Invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, the presenter said Iran was exercising an inherent right to self-defense and described any response as “lawful, necessary, and proportionate,” adding, “We don't target civilians.”
A second participant interjected with a question asking for the rationale behind reported attacks on other countries, including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan. The presenter replied that Iran is not attacking neighboring countries, that it is “defending ourselves,” and that it targets facilities and bases used by the United States in countries where those installations are, in the presenter’s words, “out of the control of the host countries.” The presenter signaled there was time for one more question.
The Security Council had convened an emergency meeting, according to the presenter, and the speaker repeatedly urged accountability and condemnation. The presenter closed by warning that continued aggression would prompt decisive defense measures by Iran.
