The Grosse Ile Township Schools Board of Education approved a slate of routine but consequential items at its regular meeting, including the 2024–25 district calendar, a band camp field trip, policy revisions, a transportation contract and several budget and gift actions.
The board voted to adopt the proposed 2024–25 calendar after a motion carried by voice vote. Board members said the calendar was developed by a committee of principals, teachers, district administrators and union representatives and was presented for approval as the district’s operational schedule for next school year.
Also approved was a July band camp field trip to Bowling Green State University, scheduled for July 28–Aug. 1, at an estimated cost of $450 per student. "I move that the Roosevelt Township Schools Board of Education approve the 2024 band camp field trip as presented," a board member said before the voice vote carried.
The board completed the second and final reading of a package of Neola-recommended policy revisions and adopted a new policy (listed in the board packet as policy 6350) addressing prevailing wage and other technical corrections.
On contracts, the board adopted a pupil-transportation services contract with Auxilio. Board members said the district solicited bids and selected the vendor based on price and prior service; the motion to adopt the contract carried by voice vote.
The board also moved to support and forward the Wayne RESA general fund operating budget resolution for the 2024–25 school year to Wayne RESA officials, consistent with the district’s annual participation.
In routine business the board approved the consent grouping, which included payment of bills for the period 04/01/2024–04/30/2024 totaling $1,109,438.02 and approval of minutes from April and May meetings.
The board accepted gifts to the district, including a $500 donation from the Grosse Ile Roadrunners to support high-school cross-country and track-and-field programs. Board members thanked donors for continued community support.
The public meeting concluded after routine updates and the board moved into closed session.
