Mayor Stutchell told the Saint Bernard City Council that Hamilton County Commissioners approved a $200,000 grant "for the payoff of the old First State Bank building," and said that once the note is paid the village can move forward with demolition. The mayor said the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) has retained a relocation specialist to assist the remaining tenant of the shopping center in finding a new site before demolition proceeds.
"We received great news today that the Hamilton County Commissioners approved the $200,000 grant for the payoff of the old First State Bank building," Mayor Stutchell said during his report.
Safety and Service Director Wartman outlined recent mutual-aid work by local fire personnel responding to a rail-car styrene leak in western Hamilton County and noted preplanning for storm contingencies related to Tropical Storm Helene. He also gave a public-works schedule: "The current schedule has work on that project beginning on October 4 and finishing the following week," Wartman said of the June Street repaving project, and he added staff had coordinated the timing with Procter & Gamble to reduce disruption to the company's workforce.
The mayor thanked village representative Tim Wordman for attending the county meeting on the village's behalf. No formal vote or action on the bank property was recorded in this meeting; the mayor framed the announcement as an update on grant approval and next steps for relocation and demolition.
