The Big Lake Public School District board approved a revision to its Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) plan and awarded two construction contracts at its regular meeting.
Board members voted to approve LTFM Plan Amendment No. 2 after district staff said cost estimates for a highlighted project dropped from the previously reported $2,378,677 to about $2,000,031. Angie, who presented the financial materials, said the lower estimate will reduce a later adjustment tied to the property tax levy. The board approved the amendment by roll call (Brown, Sigsberry, Reisner, Chabillion and Nelson recorded as voting “aye”).
TJ, presenting the final bond project for the district’s 2021 bond program, recommended awarding the 2026 middle school special education renovations to VersaCon Inc. for $389,000, a figure TJ said was within the project’s budget. The board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation.
TJ also recommended using Sourcewell cooperative purchasing to contract with Acoustic Acoustics & Associates for pool interior finishes, describing the work as a plaster replacement and lane tile installation plus required sandblasting to remove existing material. TJ presented a total contract amount of $199,220.56; the board approved the Sourcewell-based contract by voice vote.
What happens next: District staff said they will finalize the contract documents and proceed with pre-construction scheduling. The LTFM change will be submitted to MDE as required by state process.
