Onslow County Health Department officials told viewers that the department will partner with local schools to provide required immunizations for students entering 7th and 12th grades.
Alessandra Sams said the program targets rising seventh-graders (who need the first meningococcal vaccine and Tdap) and twelfth-graders (who need the second meningococcal dose). Parents received forms through school nurses; the forms include a QR code that allows parents to complete information online and authorize school-based immunization.
Sams said the deadline for returning the school forms is close of business March 13. The outreach to deliver vaccines at schools is scheduled for April 27 through May 1; the county’s goal is to reduce summer scheduling burdens by vaccinating students before the school year.
For questions or to confirm details, Sams directed parents to the Onslow County Health Department website or to contact their school nurse. No consent procedures beyond the returned form were discussed on air.
This announcement described program logistics and deadlines; it did not include details about vaccine brand, insurance coverage or funding sources.
