The Onslow County Museum is running a yearlong America 250 exhibition, museum staff told viewers, featuring local colonial-era stories with panels designed to engage younger visitors.
Emily Baker, the museum’s collections manager, described sections on Swansboro, colonial families, the colonial court system, black patriots’ experiences and local naval-stores history. She said the design team used software to create colorful, graphic-novel-style imagery intended to draw children and families into history.
Baker said guest curators from the exhibits will lead gallery talks that expand on material not included on exhibit labels. The exhibit opened last month, and the museum’s calendar—available via the Onslow County Museum website—lists scheduled talks and related events for the coming year.
The segment emphasized public programming and historical interpretation; no acquisition or funding decisions were discussed on air.
