The Rockaway Township Board of Education approved a slate of routine and budget-related items in a single meeting session, taking roll-call votes on reorganization, personnel, education, special-education and finance recommendations.
The business administrator reported that three roof projects came in slightly under budget; the board approved the partial roof-replacement resolution and related administrative items. The board then voted to approve finance recommendations and other consent items.
The board also voted to affirm HIB (harassment, intimidation and bullying) determinations. The chair announced the board was voting on four confirmed HIB cases; the roll call recorded affirmative votes from the members present. The board noted that student-discipline matters are confidential and cannot be discussed in public comment.
Roll calls recorded affirmative "Yes" votes from the present members during each recorded vote; one member (Thomasini) was noted as absent on the roll-call tallies. Motions throughout the meeting were routinely moved and seconded by board members during agenda consideration.
The board opened and closed a public-comment period during education items; an attendee, Jason Warner, raised a concern referencing a HIB incident involving his son, which board staff declined to discuss in public because of student-records confidentiality.
All approved items were recorded in the meeting minutes and will be reflected in the board packet posted with the meeting records.
