At its March 2 meeting the Board of Public Works and Safety approved several administrative items affecting Department of Public Works operations and parks services.
Resolution 26-02: Clerk Treasurer Jan Jones asked the board to authorize a Lowe’s Pro credit card for DPW purchasing to simplify parts procurement and finance tracking. Discussion focused on internal controls and designating authorized users; the resolution was amended to name two authorized users (Ray and Chad) and the board approved the resolution by voice vote.
Surplus equipment: A staff member asked permission to list six surplus pieces of equipment (mostly nonfunctioning side-by-side/UTV-style carts and similar items) on GovDeals to dispose of excess inventory. Staff noted some items lack serial numbers or titles; the board approved posting the items to the auction site and directed staff to retain photographs and auction records and to document bills of sale when items sell.
Donation accepted: The board also voted to accept a donated six-seat electric Evo-brand golf cart, estimated market value about $4,000, gifted to the city by Amazon. Staff said they will add the vehicle to the city’s inventory, insure it, and assign it for parks use.
Next steps: finance and clerk-treasurer staff will complete resolution paperwork, internal-control designations, and file auction documentation; parks staff will inventory and insure the donated golf cart.
