Marion County adopts zoning text amendment adding owner-occupied definition to Article 19

Speaker 9 (presenter) reviewed a draft resolution to amend Article 19-105 of the zoning regulations to include a definition of "owner occupied." The presenter said a drafting error put the sentence in the existing language instead of the proposed section; staff corrected the placement during the meeting.

Commissioner (Speaker 6) moved to adopt Resolution No. 2026-11, which contains the corrected placement of the owner-occupied definition and other text amendments to Article 19-105. The motion was seconded and the board voted to approve the resolution.

The amendment defines owner-occupied within the zoning text to clarify where accessory units may be located relative to the principal residential dwelling, and the planning staff said the corrected language will be included in the final packet and posted with the resolution.
