Board accepts $48,000 legislative grant to fund band camp, school store and tutoring

The Brookhaven-Comsewogue Board of Education voted to accept a $48,000 legislative grant to fund a high school store, a band camp and a tutoring program.

Board members recognized Assemblywoman Casay for her role in securing the funding; a board statement said, "Rebecca was instrumental in securing a $48,000 grant for COMSWAG," and the resolution authorizes the superintendent or designee to execute documents required to manage and report on the grant.

The resolution passed by motion and voice vote. The board also noted planned uses for the funds (high-school store, band camp and tutoring) but did not provide an itemized budget in the meeting record. The superintendent was authorized to sign all documents and assurances necessary to implement the grant.
