Principal Mr. Orlando presented district recognitions during the meeting, honoring students for academic achievement and community service.
Nicholas Goglia was named the district's unsung hero for years of volunteer work, including joining the Glenrock Fire Department as a junior volunteer and five years with TOP Soccer. Mr. Orlando said, "Nick is not only respectful young man, but he also demonstrates a genuine commitment to community service." Goglia has enlisted in the U.S. Navy and will serve for six years.
Virginia Liang was introduced as salutatorian; Mr. Orlando read highlights of her academic record, leadership as class president for four years, DECA and debate achievements and a book-drive project that extended beyond the high school to elementary schools and a local church.
Daniel (Danny) Irani was announced as valedictorian. Mr. Orlando described Irani's academic rigor, commitment to theater and debate, volunteer teaching at elementary schools with Science Rocks, and his plans to attend the University of Chicago.
Ending: The board acknowledged the students and families and invited them to remain for the meeting; the recognitions were part of the evening's routine presentations and were recorded in the meeting minutes.
