Audit committee votes unanimously to enter closed session on personnel and security matters

At the end of its March 2 public meeting the Fairfax County School Board Audit Committee voted to enter closed session to discuss personnel and security matters and to consult legal counsel.

Chair Ryan recessed the public meeting at 5:16 p.m. and moved that the committee go into closed meeting to: (1) discuss personnel matters pursuant to Va. Code § 2.2‑3711(A)(1); (2) discuss security matters pursuant to Va. Code § 2.2‑3711(A)(19); and (3) consult with legal counsel regarding specific matters requiring legal advice pursuant to Va. Code § 2.2‑3711(A)(7) and (A)(8), specifically student discipline, cybersecurity and personnel matters. The motion was moved by Ms. Saint John Cunning and seconded by Mr. McDaniel and carried unanimously for committee members present.

Luke Robertson had earlier noted that results of the FY26 school and office safety audit will not be shared publicly because of Code of Virginia exemptions and that those matters will be discussed in the forthcoming closed meeting.

The committee recorded the motion and vote in open session before recessing and meeting in closed session.
