The Village of Glendale council on March 1 unanimously adopted Ordinance 2026-08 to confirm two volunteer firefighter appointments and declared an emergency so the new members could be sworn in that night.
Fire Chief (speaker 4) introduced the candidates as Aiden Valentine and William Feiner, describing Valentine as a recent graduate with a degree in construction management enrolled at the Cincinnati State Fire Academy and Feiner as a former college baseball player now living locally and pursuing a start in the fire service. The ordinance establishes a one-year probationary period for new volunteer firefighters.
Council moved to dispense with three readings and the clerk conducted a roll-call vote. The ordinance passed by recorded 'Aye' votes from the members present. Immediately afterward the mayor administered the oath of office and the two candidates repeated the oath and were congratulated by council.
The action puts two additional volunteers into Glendale’s fire roster as the department continues community training and outreach. Chief Lerman later reported ongoing CPR training sessions that included residents who returned for refresher training and credited department instructors for a recent on-scene lifesaving intervention by a resident trained in those classes.
Council did not attach additional conditions beyond the statutory probationary period; the ordinance text and vote record were taken as presented at the meeting.
