The Kingsburg Downtown Business Improvement District Advisory Board on March 3 approved funding for a trolley during a planned “Much Ado About Spring” downtown stroll and advanced a package of marketing and logistics for the April 23 event.
Member Carrasco, who led planning for the evening stroll, said the board will use an event passport to encourage visits to downtown businesses and drive traffic: “the date is Thursday, April 23,” she said, and the event window will run “05:30 to 08:30.” Board members discussed photo “Instagram” spots, a punch-card raffle with tiered prizes, and a plan to collect completed passports at a wine bar where the raffle drawing will be held.
The board voted to approve the trolley budget after a motion and second; the motion carried by voice vote. Committee members noted potential small additional costs — fees for high-school performers and printing or signage — but said some expenses may be covered through city accounts or donated fabrication. “We like that,” one board member said when a local fabricator offered to explore donated trolley-stop signage.
Organizers also settled several operational deadlines: participating businesses must be listed on the printed passport by April 13 to appear on the event card, though late participants may still be promoted on social media. The board discussed working with a high-school theater group to provide short Shakespearean vignettes and settled on branded copy for invitations and social posts; the board’s promotional text uses the event title “Much Ado About Spring” and invites attendees to “Wander the charming streets, visit participating downtown businesses, and collect stamps upon thy event passport for a chance to win delightful prizes.”
Next steps: staff will circulate the final invitation copy, confirm trolley vendor availability and timeline, and continue collecting raffle prizes and signage before the April 13 printing cutoff.
