Town staff and council updated attendees on several water system items. Chair reported the town's meter reading system failed to capture 63 of about 240 meters on the last read; staff ordered a new antenna/device and will bill meters that failed to read at the standard rate until the issue is fixed. One mechanical meter (meter 10 at a trailer park) reads zero and will be inspected and repaired as needed.
Staff and council reported progress on the Southfield Road waterline extension: crews met with Heber Light & Power about relocating poles and are moving the project forward under previously approved funding. The town plans to finalize signatures and record the project documents soon.
Planning staff and the council also raised concerns about a proposed commercial water well drilling above the canyon (reported depth ~1,300 feet). Eric Bunker said the town has reported concerns to the state division of water rights and will monitor spring flow measurements (staff reported spring flows of about 98 and 28 units during their checks). Council members noted potential long‑term aquifer drawdown in the valley and asked staff to continue monitoring and to coordinate with irrigation and state agencies.
No formal action was taken on these operational items; staff will return with contract documents for Southfield Road as needed and will continue to monitor meter readings and spring flows.
