The Colonial Heights School Board on May 28 approved a request to allow a newly forming Colonial Heights Football Association to use school facilities for practices and Saturday games and to waive facility-use fees for the inaugural season.
Staff reported they were approached in February by Brandon Greenwood and other high-school staff forming the association. The group applied to use multiple practice fields at the middle school and the stadium for home games; staff said Parks and Recreation staff supported the arrangement and that the division would forego fees for the first year to help the program establish itself. Staff noted the division already maintains the fields and that Parks and Rec would continue field preparation.
Brandon Greenwood described the Metro Football Association as a roughly 23-team league with opponents across the Richmond area and said girls' flag football will be offered in a rotational format. He said home games could number about four, with the possibility of a playoff if the team qualifies.
The board moved to approve the facility-use request and fee waiver for the first year and said it would reassess charging policy after the inaugural season based on participation and the association's operations.
