The council voted to permit improvements in the public right-of-way at 214 South Main Street after the property owner, who identified themselves in public comment, described planned renovations and the need for an ADA ramp.
Bridal Marwood, who gave their address to the council, said the owner has been progressing with architectural plans and county/city reviews but needs permission for a ramp that “will protrude it out about 5 feet, 6 feet out into the public block” to make the building accessible to the public. Marwood asked the council to grant the approval so construction can proceed.
Council considered a resolution (24-29) authorizing the improvement and, after motion and second, adopted it. One councilmember stated they needed to abstain because the item affected a family member; that abstention was recorded and accepted on the record.
The resolution allows the owner to proceed with the ramp permit subject to normal permitting and right-of-way conditions handled through the city engineering/street department. Council did not provide additional conditions on the record during the meeting; staff follow-up was directed through the regular permitting process.
Next steps: the owner will proceed with submittal of construction documents and permits to the engineering/street department. The council’s action authorizes the right-of-way encroachment; permit details and any required easements or final engineering approvals will be handled administratively.
