City Engineer Bischoff told the council he will present three legislative items, including ordinance 24-26 to add a section of the code addressing temporary storage containers (commonly called pods) and ordinance 24-27 to clarify certificate and fee language in the zoning chapter.
Bischoff said the current code treats those containers inconsistently as sheds or accessory structures and that the new language—developed in coordination with the regional planning commission—would add clearer definitions and regulations. He also noted language cleanup to remove a provision that tied certain fees to Logan County Building Authority charges and to restore local control of fee amounts.
Both ordinances were presented as first readings; council did not take final action on these code changes during the meeting. The Rules Committee also noted additional zoning amendments (24-20, 24-21, 24-22) on the agenda that concern permitted uses in commercial zoning districts.
Next steps: staff will refine draft code language as needed and return the ordinances for subsequent readings and formal council adoption.
