Milford City Council on March 18 adopted Ordinance 24‑273, authorizing the city manager to buy outdoor furniture for 5 Points Landing from Clear Creek Amish Furniture at a cost not to exceed $39,692.
The Community Development Committee had recommended the purchase after staff and committee members reviewed options for durable, warranty‑backed benches, tables and Adirondack chairs to complete phase one of the park. "The estimated total is $39,692," said Miss Cooper, chair of the Community Development Committee, during the report to council. City Manager Michael Doss told the committee the purchase will require an appropriation amendment from the park budget.
Council suspended rules to read the ordinance by title and then moved to adopt it. In the roll call on adoption, six council members voted yes and one, Mr. Velardo, voted no. The ordinance states, under Section 12.05 of the Milford City Charter, that it becomes effective immediately upon passage.
The ordinance directs the city manager to take the actions necessary to complete the purchase and references an attached price estimate incorporated into the ordinance. Council discussion emphasized selecting more durable pieces with warranties to reduce long‑term maintenance and replacement costs.
Council members did not set a schedule for installation in the ordinance language; staff previously noted some picnic tables and Adirondack chairs would be stored during winter months while benches would remain for year‑round use.
Milford City Manager Michael Doss and the finance director were recorded as the staff points of contact for implementation and any appropriation amendment necessary to fund the purchase.
