Town staff proposed shifting the regular Town Council meetings from every Monday at 7 p.m. to the first Monday of each month at 2 p.m., with implementation requiring public-notice changes and an effective start (if approved) in April 2026.
Several council members said they supported the change for staff-workload reasons — citing overtime, comp-time and the physical strain of long evening meetings — but also said the council must balance staff needs against making meetings accessible to working residents and seniors.
"I prefer if this is gonna be held to the next meeting, it should be at an evening 07:00 meeting where the normal people that would have showed there would have the ability to get there because people who work can't make the 02:00 meeting," one council member said, urging that the council solicit public feedback at an evening meeting.
Council members noted the town has expanded online engagement options (a portal, pre-meeting public comment, and recordings available online) but nevertheless decided to table the schedule change and bring it back in March with an evening meeting format to gather resident input before any final vote.
