At its regular meeting, the Northumberland County Board of Supervisors recorded a series of formal actions on procurement and benefits following a closed session.
Reject RFPs: During closed session staff reviewed health‑insurance proposals received last fall. On return to public session a board member moved that the county not accept the healthcare RFPs under consideration; the motion was seconded and approved by the board.
Insurance renewal: Staff then proposed renewing FY27 local choice health insurance using Key Advantage 500, Key Advantage 1,000 and a high‑deductible plan with comprehensive and preventive dental; coverage was also proposed for early retirees who are not Medicare‑eligible. A motion to renew those plans was moved and seconded and approved by the board. A board member amended the motion to include the proposed rates and that amendment was approved.
Courthouse repairs and engineering study: After reviewing estimates, the board approved hiring Norman Roofing to repair siding and gutters on the new courthouse building for $8,500. The board also selected Raymond Global to perform a courthouse load analysis study for $12,500, with funding identified through tax‑exempt borrowing. Both contracts were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Other motions: The board approved posting an economic development survey/form on the county website to solicit constituent priorities. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
Where recorded, votes were taken by voice; on the roll call after the closed session the minutes transcribed recorded 'Aye' votes from Mr. Fisher, Mr. Brands, DeWim (as transcribed), Mr. Harris and others present, and recorded Mr. Long as absent. The actions above reflect motions and approvals recorded in the meeting packet and minutes.
