Board names new elementary 'Reedy Laurel Elementary' and approves sanitary sewer easement for New Bryson Middle School

The board accepted the ad'hoc naming committee's recommendation to name the new elementary school at 61 Isbell Lane "Reedy Laurel Elementary School," a choice committee members said honors the nearby Reedy River and Laurel Creek and reflects the school's environmental science emphasis. Doctor Presley, committee chair, reported 1,375 stakeholder submissions informed the recommendation and the board adopted the name by voice vote.

Separately, the board approved administration's recommendation to grant a temporary construction easement and a permanent sanitary sewer right of way as requested by the Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict for property at 905 Fairview Road (the New Bryson Middle School site). Staff explained that securing sewer access on'site avoids off'site costs. The motion to accept the easement recommendation was moved and seconded and the board voted to approve the request.
