Parent urges cameras in preschool classroom after child injured; board staff to follow up

A Vineland parent raised safety concerns about her nonverbal preschool child and asked whether the district could install cameras inside the classroom after her son suffered an injury that required medical attention.

The parent said her son had an allergic‑type reaction and later sustained a head injury at school; she said the classroom has only four children and that incidents have happened multiple times. She asked whether cameras could be placed in the classroom to improve oversight and help her feel comfortable sending her son back to school.

Superintendent Yano replied that someone from the central office would reach out and that Mr. Fry (district staff) would be directed to contact the family; the board agreed to follow up and obtain the parent’s contact information. "We'll have someone reach out to you," Yano said.

No board vote or formal policy change occurred at the meeting; the board directed staff to investigate and follow up with the parent.
