District says NYSERDA‑funded electric bus assessment is underway; study expected to take about three months

A board member (Speaker 2) told the board they had attended an electric‑bus assessment kickoff at the district bus garage and that CPL Engineering is leading the study. "Greg Royer from CPL Engineering was there," the member said, describing the kickoff as a step to evaluate routes, charging and facility needs.

Staff (Speaker 3) confirmed the timeline and funding: "It takes about three months to complete the study, and then the study has to be approved by NYSERDA because we're using an NYSERDA grant." Staff said the study will examine charging infrastructure, possible energy‑storage options to mitigate demand charges, bus‑route effects and building/site implications.

Board members and staff noted the work may feed into future capital planning and tax‑cap calculations, because borrowing and vehicle depreciation affect levy computations.
