The Northridge Board of Education voted unanimously April 16 to adopt an emergency resolution to proceed with replacement of fire‑alarm systems at the middle school and high school.
Treasurer Mr. Lewis explained the resolution: it allows the district to accelerate the work this summer without following the full competitive-bid timeline ordinarily required for similar projects. He told the board they nonetheless obtained three bids and selected a company and emphasized the work is long overdue.
"It's an emergency resolution that basically allows us to move forward, with...not go through the bid process, but we did get 3 bids anyway, and selected this company," Mr. Lewis said. He noted the board still must follow an additional bid process step that legally precedes certain purchases but that the resolution permits the district to proceed to secure the work in time for summer.
Board members asked where funds would come from; the treasurer explained planned funding sources in the capital plan and the board took a roll‑call vote. The motion passed with a unanimous recorded vote (5‑0).
The board did not identify the vendor by name in the public meeting transcript; the treasurer said documentation and Robertson reports/photos about ongoing projects will be posted on the district website for public review.
