The committee received an informational briefing on the district’s Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) fiscal‑year 2025 application, which the superintendent said must be made available to the school committee and the public as part of the funding process.
Superintendent Jeremy Gray summarized the Titles covered by the application, noting the district receives Title I, Title II, Title III and Title IV funds but said it does not qualify for Title V (rural funds). "We do not qualify for title 5 because that was a rural those are rural funds," he said. He described the typical uses of the funds—reading and math interventions, Title I staff and family‑engagement allocations—and said Title I support for the district is "about a $900,000 piece." He also said the district recently received a state reallocation of roughly "118, 119,000" that was used to fund summer programming.
Board members asked whether the committee would receive updates on how funds are spent; Gray said the district can provide those updates and noted there are rules about set‑asides for family engagement and carryover limits.
The item was presented as informational and did not require a committee vote at the meeting.
