Rick Hendrickson, the district’s activities director, told the board that spring athletic seasons have faced weather‑related postponements and rescheduling but that teams have been able to fill many dates. "For baseball...we have, like, 13 games," he said, and noted softball is roughly two‑thirds complete. Hendrickson thanked volunteers, bus drivers and school staff who helped adjust schedules and said the district posts changes to online schedules.
Hendrickson also described methods the athletics staff has used to handle flooded fields and last‑minute changes, and said some section tournaments require flexible travel and ticketing arrangements.
Chris, representing community education, reported that the spring catalog (April 23) prompted quick registrations. Popular offerings include swimming lessons (full) and a new community theater program. He said preschool registration was complete for the 4‑year‑old program (60 students) with 28 enrolled in the 3‑year‑old program and a waitlist for the latter. The summer program will operate on a rotation model with morning and afternoon rotations, and the PAC (performance/aquatics/community center) policies are under review. Chris said an early‑childhood playground grant application is pending with the community foundation.
Ken, who provided facilities updates, said a heat‑exchanger part has arrived and the district needs to schedule installation before fall. He also discussed pursuing LED upgrades across campus to capture rebates; "6 months payback is what they're telling me right now," he said, while cautioning that some projects can escalate if not prioritized.
Board members thanked staff for managing schedules and programs; no formal actions or votes were taken on these items during the communications segment.
