Yamna Tabada, the Haslett High School senior who serves as student representative to the board, delivered a brief report on school activities at the April 22 meeting.
Tabada told the board that Wilkeshire observed Neurodiversity Acceptance Week with themed activities, that the school’s recent food drive collected hundreds of items for the Haslett Food Bank, and that kindergarten roundup meetings and registration links are posted on the district website. She said Murphy’s Mileage Club meets three days a week and reported over 80% participation, and she noted that fourth-grade musical performances and Haslett High School’s student showcase took place in recent weeks.
Tabada also summarized district testing: M-STEP English/language arts, social studies and science were underway and M-STEP math testing is scheduled for May. She closed by thanking the board and inviting peers to apply for the superintendent’s advisory leadership team.
The board thanked Tabada for the report and asked a few follow-up questions about student leadership opportunities.
