Valley View Local board adopts five-year strategic plan after presentation

The Valley View Local Board of Education voted to adopt a proposed five‑year strategic plan presented by Nicole Thomas, the plan author and presenter.

Thomas reviewed the update process, which included reconvening the original design team, a community survey (October 2023), and administrative drafting of goals under the plan’s pillars. She highlighted the district’s updated "portrait of a graduate," described changes to the 2018 pillars (including combining facilities and finance into operations and finance), and outlined how teacher and building goals will be aligned to the new plan.

"This plan is, I think, something we can be really proud of," Thomas said. Board members thanked the design team and praised the community participation that informed the pillars. The board approved the motion to adopt the strategic plan (attachment number 4) after a second and roll call vote.

Administration said the plan will be posted on the district website and shared via district channels; the superintendent and staff will monitor progress and present updates to the board. Board members discussed a community launch tied to occupancy of the new building and confirmed the new plan will guide financial and academic decision‑making going forward.
