Committee members discussed a line in the proposed Land Information Services fee schedule that a staff member said could be misread to suggest publicly available tax and assessment portal data would be placed behind a paywall.
A Land Information representative said the item refers to standard database extracts often requested by mortgage servicers and some real-estate companies and that it was not the intention to put publicly available portal data behind a fee. The staff member asked to change the language to “tax and assessment data extract” to make that clear.
A committee member moved to amend the draft to add the word “extract” where staff sees best fit; the motion was seconded. Corporate counsel and staff agreed the change could be handled as a non-substantial edit and directed staff to send the corrected language by email to corporate counsel for incorporation. The committee unanimously approved the amendment and then voted to approve the amended fee schedule.
The committee also noted a separate line on the schedule that flagged mailing-label generation will not be offered as a standing service; staff explained that service had been provided on request but was not a standard listed option.
The amended fee schedule will be carried forward to the full board as part of the committee’s recommendations.
