The Wilmot UHS School District board approved a plan to move from block days to a daily schedule next school year to give students daily WARP intervention and homeroom time.
Superintendent (speaker 2) told trustees the change follows roughly 18 months of discussion with staff, students and the family advisory committee and was prompted by survey feedback and attendance data showing higher absences on block days. “When a student misses a block day, they’re really missing a lot of instruction,” the superintendent said, arguing daily WARP will reduce missed instruction and provide more consistent opportunities for reassessment and extra help.
Board members asked how classes that benefit from longer periods — such as lab courses and some vocational offerings — would be preserved. Administrators said counselors and schedulers will place those classes adjacent to WARP when possible, and the district will retain the option for double‑block classes (currently used for geometry and construction) where course design requires extended time.
The superintendent said the district will monitor the change and evaluate whether the daily model meets goals for relationship‑building and improved access to teacher support. Trustees were told the new schedule will be implemented Monday through Friday next year and reviewed as the year progresses.
The board did not provide a formal date for the change in the transcript; administrators said additional scheduling details will be shared with staff and families as the district finalizes the plan.
