The Cinnaminson Township School District Board of Education voted to transmit its tentative fiscal year 2024–25 budget to the executive county superintendent after a presentation from district staff on budget assumptions and needed adjustments.
Superintendent Capello told the board the district would submit the preliminary budget for county review with the board’s approval and that full details will be available at an April public hearing. "With the approval of the board this evening, Mrs. Livingood will be permitted to submit this preliminary budget to the county office for review," he said.
The business-and-finance presentation included several related items the board approved: acceptance of a revised 2023–24 funding statement for chapter 192/193 services, approval to submit the preschool expansion grant workbook, and donations of $200 and $500 designated for student wellness and a healthy-high-school challenge. The superintendent said the district received $290,000 in preschool expansion aid this year to support expanding access to full-day pre-K over multiple years.
The budget presentation described two tax-levy cap adjustments: $118,003.30 tied to enrollment increases and $54,005.49 tied to health-care cost increases. The board also approved a planned maintenance-reserve withdrawal of $771,003.70 for required maintenance projects including electrical, plumbing and mechanical work.
Finance committee chair Mike Bramhall summarized the committee’s review of staffing needs and revenue assumptions and said the committee’s preliminary estimate of tax-rate impact translates in the minutes to an increase described as about $8.25 per month for the average assessed home; the transcript’s phrasing on the per-year figure was unclear in places and the district has posted full budget documents for a detailed breakdown.
The board moved and approved the transmission of the tentative 2024–25 budget and associated business-and-finance items during the Section 16 vote. Mrs. Livingood will submit the formal paperwork to the county for the next phase of review; the full, final budget presentation and a formal vote on final adoption will be scheduled at the board’s April meeting.
The board also authorized Garrison Architects to amend the long-range facilities plan and to prepare pre-referendum exploration services to study modular-classroom options and site utilities for New Albany, Rush and Memorial schools, a step the district said is aimed at identifying facility solutions to support program expansion.
