The superintendent said Monday the district would continue nontraditional instruction for what the speaker called “NTI day 8” because a winter weather advisory and uncertain early-morning conditions make safe bus runs difficult.
"My team and I are watching the National Weather Service, looking at radars, trying to make the best decision we can, to keep students and staff safe," the superintendent said, noting that the district's first bus runs at 05:30, which complicates early-morning judgments when precipitation is only forecast, not yet on the ground.
The superintendent described the radar conditions as notable: "We're under a winter winter weather advisory, and, the radar is showing pink," and said the district keeps in close contact with other superintendents while monitoring forecasts.
Officials said they will distribute additional information and dates as they are finalized and urged families to watch official district communications for updates.
