Board approves two‑year pupil services role funded by Stronger Connections grant

Trustees approved a two‑year, full‑time pupil services position funded by the district’s recently awarded Stronger Connections grant. Administration said the position would provide counseling and community‑engagement capacity, team‑teach and scaffold supports so the district’s existing counselor can focus on tier‑3 students requiring intensive services.

Administrators emphasized the role is grant funded for two years and is intended as a capacity‑building position; they acknowledged there is no guarantee of continuation after the grant term and that the district will aim to build programming and local supports during the funded period. Board members asked how responsibilities differ from current administrators and whether costs could be absorbed later; staff said the position’s main work occurs in the months before and during summer programs and that the grant allows the district to pilot expanded community engagement and SEL programming.

A motion to approve the grant‑funded position was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Administration will proceed to post the position, hire a candidate consistent with grant deliverables, and report back on outcomes and potential sustainability after the first grant year.
