John Norcross, who identified himself as a parent of a student at Arrowhead, told the community session that outside spending tied to partisan groups in recent school board races has increased substantially.
"By my count, almost $18,000 has been spent by the Republican party," Norcross said, arguing rising outside spending is making it harder for local candidates to compete and raising concerns about fairness and transparency.
Norcross questioned how endorsements and vetting occur, referencing WISRAD reporting and in-kind support. Members of the audience and the board discussed whether partisan involvement has increased and whether some campaign-related outreach represented formal vetting.
The board president responded to questions about endorsements by saying she did not request any endorsement and that the evening was intended as a community conversation rather than a forum for campaigning. Attendees urged the board to consider transparency around outside spending and candidate vetting as part of broader community concerns.
No formal action or vote followed from Norcross's remarks.
