Several parents used the public‑comment period to press the Middlesex County School Board about special‑education services, alleging inadequate supports, mishandled meetings and retaliation by school administrators.
Dawn Moore urged clearer public agendas and that the board enforce its own policies. "It's your responsibility to make sure the policies you put in place are enforced, and our children's education should be first out of all of that," Moore said.
Davene Gresham described a March meeting she said became "totally retaliatory," alleging a case manager and an advocate behaved inappropriately and that special‑education leadership failed to hold staff accountable. "The lack of accountability that is being displayed among the leadership in the St. Clair Walker and the leadership of Middlesex School District needs to be addressed immediately," Gresham said.
Another commenter said their 13‑year‑old with disabilities was removed from school using an inappropriate statute, described delays in appeals and said they have documentation and audio recordings. "You guys are violating my child's civil rights," the speaker said.
Board members and the chair reminded speakers that comments should be addressed to the board rather than individual staff members and reiterated public‑comment time limits and guidelines. The chair said the board has "done more than due diligence" in hearing public input but did not offer immediate corrective action during the meeting.
The transcript records no formal board action at the meeting to investigate the specific allegations; the commenters said they have documentation and seek follow‑up from district leadership.
