One board member asked for a clearer definition of the board’s role when the policy says the UASD board "sets" policy, asking if "approve" might be a clearer term or if the board actively participates in drafting. Staff noted language already existing in Policy 003 addressing board powers (adopt, modify, repeal) could be incorporated into Policy 802 to clarify authority.
The committee asked staff to draft suggested revisions and bring the item back for the February meeting cycle so the board and incoming superintendent can decide on the preferred wording and levels of participation.
