The Clintondale Community Schools Board voted unanimously to approve a cooperative education agreement with Lance Cruz Public Schools that will allow students to enroll in career and technical education (CTE) courses — including sports medicine, construction technology, criminal justice, graphic arts and early childhood education — for one to two periods a day.
Board members and the superintendent said the arrangement has been on the books for roughly six years and provides an opportunity to expand curricular offerings without immediate district capital investment. Under the agreement, transportation to Lance Cruz programs would be provided by Clintondale.
Board members noted that, at present, there are no Clintondale students enrolled in the Lance Cruz programs and asked administration to report back on whether the partnership could be made reciprocal (allowing Lance Cruz students to attend Clintondale offerings) and on strategies to promote enrollment. The superintendent said students would be dual‑enrolled in both districts for course-credit purposes and transportation costs would apply only if a student actually enrolls.
"I think it's outstanding that we are partnering up with Lance Cruz," one board member said, adding that the arrangement could fill program gaps and diversify available pathways for students.
The board approved the agreement on a roll-call vote (7–0). The superintendent was asked to return with recommendations on marketing the program to students and with options to promote reciprocal participation where feasible.
Next steps: Superintendent to report to the board on promotional strategies, possible reciprocity, and whether any enrollment or transportation barriers remain.
