Superintendent (speaker S6) told the board on April 24 that the district will provide busing next school year for students living more than a quarter-mile from their school and will launch a family survey to gather routing interest.
"We will have busing next year," the superintendent said, adding that the district will survey families via its website and social channels to plan routes and determine interest. He said administrators have built the service into next year's budget and that the district will continue to contract transportation (rather than operating its own fleet), naming Divergent as the current provider of rental buses and associated services.
Board members asked for more detail about funding and implementation; the superintendent said he could bring a financial breakdown (two- or three-tier routing options) to the next meeting. Trustees said they welcomed the return of busing both for student safety and to increase student attendance on count day.
The district also said it will share more information on its website and social media as planning proceeds and will contact families directly once routes and schedules are developed.
