The Blackhawk School District board recognized student representative Andrew Woods during its May 9 meeting for a series of academic achievements, including multiple competition victories and high Advanced Placement scores.
"Andrew stepped up two years, serviced to the school board behind the scenes ... he has competed in 28 total competitions ... of his 28, Andrew won 19," Dr. Bennett said as the administration praised Woods’ record. The administrator listed national awards, county honors and said Woods earned multiple AP scores of 5 and a 4 in another subject.
Student representative Andrew Woods then delivered a report highlighting extracurricular successes across the district: the high school’s play target team leading its section, winners of school spelling bees who will compete at the county level, and participation by 42 students in Special Olympics track and field.
The board thanked Woods for his service and noted the junior representative, Aubrey Bowman, has been asked to join the next meeting and will take the student seat at the table starting in August.
