Votes at a glance: Blackhawk board approves consent items and personnel actions; multiple committee motions passed

The Blackhawk School District Board approved routine business and a series of committee items at its May 9 meeting, including approval of the April minutes, personnel actions and committee consent items presented by committee chairs.

The board formally approved the April minutes (agenda item 1.6) after a motion and second; the Chair called the voice vote and declared the motion passed. Committee chairs then read motions to approve items across the agenda: personnel committee motions to hire a secretary to the superintendent and to approve summer employees at $15 per hour pending clearances; education committee motions including an ESY agreement and an Adelphi education services agreement; transportation updates including an updated drivers list and a bus schedule from McCarter’s; athletics committee items; and a motion to implement a meal subscription point-of-sale system for the cafeteria.

Multiple board members moved and seconded the listed committee items; where recorded the items were presented 'as written' and taken without extended debate during the meeting.

The finance committee also noted two CD renewals and an authorization to engage an additional audit from the district's auditor. The solicitor announced, for future agendas, recommended settlements and several tax appeals that will be presented next week.
