Students from Pleasant Hill High School presented a year‑end review of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) and FFA programs during the April 22 board meeting, highlighting workshops, competitions, grants and community service.
A staff presenter announced grade‑level Most Improved students and named Dakota Hennig as overall Student of the Month; the presenter described Dakota’s successful grant application and plans to attend Emerson College, where she was recruited to play soccer.
Students described program coursework and certifications — including metal shop, horticulture, animal science, tractor operator and food handler permits — and reported local and national competition results. One student said, "The CTE program has given me insight into real job situations and scenarios as well as other skills that I can transition into the real world." Another student, Tessa, described leadership experience as the FFA chapter president and said community service through FFA helped with college applications.
Presentations noted that the agribusiness class secured grants for new welders, students attended the FFA national convention, and the greenhouse program supplies plants for community events. Students also described service projects (assembling bunk beds for a foster child program) and plans for upcoming events such as a greenhouse plant sale.
Board members praised the presentation and thanked students for their time. The board encouraged continued support for CTE and FFA programs and congratulated the recognized students.
