Trustees and the superintendent recognized student achievement during the March 12 meeting.
Frank Sackerius and Kelly Gustafson introduced HOSA students from Carson High School who competed at the state leadership conference and qualified for the international competition; Sackerius said the program brought 42 students to the conference and 33 qualified for international competition, and Gustafson added that 35 advanced to a second round and 33 qualified in their events. Students who spoke identified events and placements and described next steps, with several saying they plan to pursue medical or health-related fields in college.
Superintendent Fieldwood also introduced Eagle Valley Middle School’s FIRST Lego League team, which won state-level competition and will represent Nevada at the world festival in Houston. Student presenters explained the robot design and innovation project and acknowledged sponsors who helped fund the trip.
Trustees congratulated the students and encouraged community support and fundraising for travel expenses.
