The Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi Board of Education approved several routine and time-sensitive items at its regular meeting.
Most consequential, the board voted to adopt the proposed 2024–25 expenditure budget of $22,000,511 and to place that budget before district voters on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Chair led the motion; the board voice-voted in favor and the motion carried.
Board members also approved routine financial and program reports. The treasurer’s financial report for Feb. 28, 2024, was accepted as submitted. The board accepted the director of special education’s report covering March 23–April 15, 2024.
Several co‑curricular and student activity requests were approved: the class of 2025 was authorized to hold prom at the Carriage House Events Center in Oneonta on June 1, 2024 (students and class fundraising will cover the cost; a bus will be available for students who sign up), and the varsity club and the Delaware Academy FFA were authorized to make May trips (Kalahari Resort; New York State FFA convention in Buffalo) with district transportation and substitute coverage provided where requested.
The board authorized the district to pursue lease‑purchase financing, not to exceed $1,535,007, for up to nine 66‑passenger buses for a term not to exceed five years, contingent on voter approval on May 21, 2024. The authorization does not obligate the district if voters do not approve the financing.
The board voted to declare playground equipment, athletic items and specified technology equipment surplus and heard that playground demolition and installation work is scheduled to begin the following day, with recycling or scrap removal arranged as appropriate.
The board also considered and approved the DCM ROCES administrative budget for 2024–25 as presented at the meeting (meeting transcript recorded the amount as "$30,000,064,583" during discussion; minutes and district records will be used to confirm the correct figure). The board cast its one vote for each listed vacancy on the DCMO board (Vanessa Warner, John Korkowski and Cindy O’Hara) as a group action.
The meeting concluded with scheduling reminders for the budget hearing on May 13, the regular board meeting May 20 and the budget vote on May 21.
