At its March 20 meeting, the East Aurora Union Free School District Board of Education approved several consent items and procurement actions including acceptance of two foundation grants and a request for proposal recommendation for transportation services.
The board voted 6–0 to accept a DAP grant that the agenda described as supporting an "empowering readers" program. The board also approved an agro-sustainable grant presented by teachers and praised the foundation and student involvement that supported the application.
"I'm so excited for this one," said Miss George during the grant discussion, thanking the foundation and noting strong student engagement in grant-related activities.
Trustees also approved a transportation services proposal to First Student after staff outlined potential risks and contract considerations; the voice vote carried 6–0. Board members thanked the superintendent and business office for preparing materials that clarified potential budget effects and contractual risks.
Other consent and procedural items approved included routine consensus agenda items and a motion to approve the 2024–25 instructional calendar and a resolution authorizing the district's annual meeting and budget vote procedures. Each motion carried on unanimous voice votes, as recorded in the meeting.
