At its May 21 meeting the Hamilton Central School District board approved the family consent agenda and took formal personnel actions listed on the agenda.
The board accepted the resignation of Rick Lauterhorn (part‑time food service helper), Abigail Riley (elementary teacher, effective 06/30/2024) and Frank Mazzio (head cleaner, effective 05/31/2024; resignation contingent on approval of a related building maintenance helper appointment). The board also approved appointments recommended by the superintendent and building principals, including Margaret Parfit as a probationary school nurse (effective 09/01/2024 through 08/31/2025) pending fingerprint clearance, Frank Fazio as probationary building maintenance helper (effective 06/01/2024), Melissa Latella as a tenured elementary teacher (effective 07/01/2024), Jessica Hoople as a tenured music teacher (effective 07/01/2024) and Heather Thomas as tenured school building leader/elementary principal (effective 07/01/2024).
Board members noted that discussion of some personnel matters would take place in executive session. The motions to accept resignations and approve appointments were moved, seconded and approved during the meeting.
Other consent items approved included routine business such as the treasurer’s report, consideration of claims, transportation and cafeteria reports, cooperative bidding, an intermunicipal agreement and policies and regulations.
The board also approved a motion to lease one school bus to the village for the summer recreation program under specified insurance and driver stipulations.
The board then adjourned to executive session to discuss proposed, pending or current litigation and personnel items as listed on the agenda.
